Runnr treated the runners from the south with a free “Start Running” clinic to celebrate the opening of their newest branch last Saturday at Alabang Town Center’s activity center, Muntinlupa City.
Two prominent names in local running scene were invited and conducted talks on how to start running.
Jinoe Gavan, the man behind the successful running website Takbo.ph, opened the sessions with “Getting Started into Running”. Gavan explained how he started running and how he kept his continuous love for the sport.
Personally, Takbo.ph was one of the first websites which hooked me into running. I was googling for running events to join and I accidentally dropped by to his website. The “List of Events” tab on that website started my running addiction. I was also astounded by this guy getting the .PH domain of “takbo” (“run” in Tagalog) which will be a good get in domain name registration.
US-certified running and multisport coach Jay Valencia demonstrated how to “Run Right with Natural Running Form”. It was a good talk for both newbies and not-so-newbies because he focused on form, which is very important when running. Running with a good form will keep your performance better and injury-free.
Toby Claudio, owner of Runnr and Toby’s Sports, graced the occasion and gave his own inspirational talk as well. He started running by accident when he was not allowed to play sports anymore by his doctor due to repetitive injuries. Ironically, he owns one of the biggest sports and recreation chains in Toby’s Sports, which also paved way for him to try running and giving birth to Runnr.
Lots of prizes were raffled off for media guests and spectators. Running shoes from Newton, Brooks and Adidas, gift certificates from Runnr, Nike Stadium and Laser Xtreme and Yurbuds were given away to the lucky individuals.
Luckily, I brought home the Yurbuds! 🙂
